The Peace That Lets You Breathe

Angie got in her car and headed south.  She wasn’t sure where she was going but knew she had to get away.  It took her the better part of four hours to get there but once she reached the beach area of South Carolina she knew she had found what she was looking for.

She got out of her car slowly, stripped down to her bathing suit, walked down across the sand and stepped in the lukewarm water.  Walking that way for a while just on the edge, she then stepped back up on the sand.  Finding a secluded area where she was sure others were not around, she sat down.  The sun felt so good on her face and body.

Taking a deep breath in, she sighed.  Peace.  The peace she needed and longed for.  At least for now.  She knew she had responsibilities and couldn’t stay long, but this is what she had been needing.  To get away from everything and everyone and just breathe.

Staying until she watched the beautiful sun set and stars come out over the ocean.  She then walked casually back to her car.  Breathing in deeply as she went.  Once back in her car, she sat there for a few minutes staring out over the sea before turning her car around and heading home.

I can’t tell you the amount of times I have wanted to do just this.  To just get in my car and drive to the beach.  To sit on the sand and listen to the waves of the ocean to bring me peace of mind.  To still my thoughts and do nothing but listen and breathe.

Seeing this picture brought up those thoughts and feelings, so this story came out of it.

Time and Space

Breathing in, the smell of books, varnish and leather, she thrills at the prospect of what story to get lost in today.

Angie loves the library.  She has always felt in another world when there.  Looking up from where she is in the midst of a vast space of books on shelves, reaching up to the sky.  Like this world of books could go on and on without stopping into another world and dimension.  She could stay here forever.  Happy in knowing she will always be somewhere new each day.

She finds a book that she knows will take her away from this world into another for a while.  Going to a comfortable seat on a soft couch, she opens up the beautiful leather bound book to a bright new world and adventure.  She looks around her, no one is there and it is nice and quiet.  Looking back to the book fondly, she gives an excited smile.  Falling into the story, she loses herself once again.

I love finding pictures that pull a story out of my head.  Something to start with and the possibilities of there being a future story are so open!

Castle Home in the Sky

She had been searching for so long.  Only finding what she was looking for in her dreams.  Dressed in a beautiful flowing gown she stood on the cliff.  Looking toward her home.  Held in the clouds by anchors to who-knows-where.  Her beautiful castle in the sky.  Waterfalls cascading into space and time.  Birds flying over head, singing for her to come home.  As she stepped forward, a bridge appeared in mid-air and she slowly headed to her castle home in the sky.

Just Be

Raina had to take a walk to get out of her mind and the things she couldn’t control.  Slipping on her flats. Wearing a skirt and blouse.  Just needing to get away.  She stepped out of the house and put one foot in front of the other.  Not paying attention to where she went.  Not seeing those she passed.  Just letting her body take her to somewhere quiet and peaceful.  Somewhere far enough from all that her mind was trying to protect her from by throwing lies at her to make her shut down.  Breathing in and out, the breeze coming off the shore washing all her thoughts away.

Realizing she had reached the ocean a few blocks from the house, she stood there taking it all in.  The colorful sunset across the sea.  The seagulls flying overhead, hoping she might have some treats for them.  The tall grass swaying in the wind.  The waves crashing on the shore line and then slowly moving back into the sea. Her long beautiful brown hair whipping around her.

This is her peaceful place.  Her place to reflect and either think of nothing or everything.  To breathe and live in the here and now.  To know that all is going to be okay and she can do this life.  She can be who she needs and wants to be.  All anxious thoughts washed away and out to sea. Here she can just be.

Just a short story I thought of when seeing this beautiful picture.

I looked around as we went down this long drive lined by trees with a questioning look on my face.

“Well you always wanted to be a princess in a renaissance castle.  So now you are.” Maggie said as we came to a stop.

I was wondering why they had me dress in this renaissance garb and head-dress.  We had reached a castle and as they guided me inside, I saw my friends were all standing around talking.  When we walked through the grand doors our presence was announced.  I could feel my cheeks flush and we continued to proceed to the long table prepared in front of us and in front of all.  They had me sit in the middle beside my best friend and our other friends sat on either side of us.  We were the royalty for the night.

We danced and had our fill of food and drink.  I was the happiest girl in the world!

Breathtaking – WOTD

Fjord, Norway, Water, Coast, Shore

Parking and starting on their hike, Nick and Phoebe were excited to start their journey to reach the top of the trail.  They had heard how wonderful and breathtaking the view is.

They continued on up the hill to their destination.  Sometimes holding one another’s hand, sometimes behind each other up the steeper part of the trail.

The last few steps were really high so they helped each other with the last bit.

Once on level ground they took a breath and were mesmerized by the view.

“Finally! We made it,” Nick says

“Yes, and how beautiful,” says Phoebe, “It’s absolutely breathtaking!”

“Definitely. Breathtaking,” says Nick.  Phoebe looks over to Nick and sees he is staring directly at her instead of the fantastic view.  She moves into his arms and they kiss.  Then they look out onto the gorgeous surroundings together.
